Liz:
Welcome to The Seller Community Podcast from List Perfectly. Doug, Doug, Doug,
Doug:
Liz, Liz, Liz.
Liz:
This is episode 40
Doug:
I know. I know. I’m so excited like that fade now.
Liz:
Oh yeah.
Doug:
So, I’m so excited. Episode 40 is huge. I didn’t even realize it, but it’s a huge, huge milestone. Very exciting. Here’s to 400 more Liz. Yes.
Liz:
It’s 400 more 40 more. Let’s take it 40 at a time. So yeah, I saw that number 40 and I was like, wow, 40 straight weeks. He’s had to put up with me.
Doug:
That’s right. And no interruptions.
Liz:
John sends his apologies to you Doug
Doug:
That’s Liz’s husband.
Liz:
Yes. He’s like, “Wow. He has to listen to you every week.”
Doug:
I think that’s what Mer says too. My wife, for Liz. 40 is the new 30. Congratulations on 40 awesome episodes. And it’s doing well and it’s a lot of fun.
Liz:
Yes. So, thank you everyone who tunes in week after week that has had to listen to us, or that has chosen to listen to us 40 weeks in a row. We appreciate you.
Doug:
Or if you’re new, you can certainly binge like Squid Games or Sopranos, or I don’t know what else people are bingeing right now, but you can binge all the episodes. If you have maybe a road trip. If you’re listing if you’re sourcing. Wait a minute, Liz, stop the show. Stop the show. I have an urgent announcement. Everybody. Liz did a major sourcing shopping run yesterday and we were on a call, and she was in her car. It was funny. So, she took the call, a video call from her car and she was outside waiting for some place to open. And then she did a big sourcing trip. And I guess you hadn’t done it in a while. So, you spent some time shopping yesterday.
Liz:
Yeah, it felt really good. I had not had like a big sourcing haul for quite a while and yeah. Yeah. I filled my entire car.
Doug:
And yes. She sent a picture of her filled living room with stuff. So, Liz is going to be listing today.
Liz:
Yeah. A listing fool. So, this episode might be a little bit short because I have work to do Doug. Hey, speaking of work. We have a big announcement to make on The Seller Community Podcast from List Perfectly.
Doug:
What’s that?
Liz:
I want to introduce the new Director of Content for List Perfectly, Mr. Doug Smith.
Doug:
Oh yes. Thank you, Liz. Thank you everybody. Please stop please. Thank you. Thank you.
Liz:
Congratulations, Doug.
Doug:
Thanks. Thanks. I’m happy to be becoming aboard. Happy to be becoming aboard, happy to come aboard with List Perfectly as Director of Content. We’ll still be doing the podcast. Don’t worry about that. And Liz always tells me I reveal too much. I’m not going to reveal anything. We’re going to do a lot of amazing stuff. It’s going to be cool, but I’m very pleased to be coming on full time with List Perfectly. And thank you, Liz.
Liz:
You’re welcome. Yeah. As a user of List Perfectly, somebody that follows List Perfectly’ s social and content on a daily basis. I’m really excited for what you’re going to bring. So, congratulations, Doug.
Doug:
Thank you very much.
Liz:
Speaking of social. Speaking of content. We’ve got an awesome guest this week that we got to sit down and talk to while we were at the BOSS Reseller Remix, Matt King, you probably know him better on Instagram as whysothriftystore. And we talked to him a lot about social and selling and the Remix and what he’s been doing and what’s in the future for him.
Doug:
Yeah. Yeah. We, we got a bit social with him. It was a fun chat and we talked about YouTube, TikTok, all the stuff he’s doing, some plans, how we got started. So, it was a fun little chat.
Liz:
Yeah. So, I say, okay, I’ve got listing to do Doug and I don’t want to rush it. And I just wanted to make sure to congratulate you on your new role. But I think we really need to get rolling with this. But before we go ahead and share Matt’s interview with our listeners really quick, I guess we’ve got to pay the bills, Doug. So, The Seller Community Podcast is brought to you by List Perfectly every week for your enjoyment and show notes are found at thesellercommunitypodcast.com/podcast. Now let’s get into the show…
Doug:
But wait, Liz. Wait, Liz, there’s more! So, we have Matt, a couple seller shout outs, and some news Liz.
Liz:
Liz, we’ve got a blend of news and seller shout outs. So, seller news outs, shouty seller outs, but uh, let’s just get on with it.
Liz:
Let’s get started with our featured guest Matt King from whysothrifty.

Liz:
Today in the studio we welcome Matt King from whysothriftystore.
Matt:
So happy to be here.
Doug:
What’s up Matt? Welcome. We have a studio, usually Liz and I, it’s funny. Liz is in her basement and I’m in my closet, but my closet is fabulous because it has a chandelier. So, it’s awesome. And everybody’s welcoming Matt to the show, but we are in a studio this week. So, thanks for coming in.
Matt:
I’m so happy to be here. This is so cool, the set up!
Liz:
Normally record remotely, but it’s cool to be in person. So Matt, please introduce yourself to our listeners.
Matt:
Okay. So, my name is Matt King. My reselling company is called whysothrifty, whysothriftystore on Instagram. Always gotta plug, you know, and I’ve been probably reselling on eBay on and off since 2008, I got into it because my dad was an eBay seller, like my whole childhood. So, it really got me interested. First thing I listed to was like, I think a kid’s toy I think I stole from my brother, and it sold. So immediately I got addicted right at the time. eBay addiction, you’re like, “did I just make money?” Well, that’s lunch money. So, I started doing that and then ever since then, I just got addicted and my goal was always to, you know, be able to provide for myself financially and just like mentally through reselling. So, I think during COVID when I started full-time it really kind of took off and I’m having really a lot of fun doing it.
Liz:
I can tell you, I started following you on Instagram, probably right at the beginning of that, I think I was following a hashtag and I saw one of your videos and I’m like, okay, this reseller is having fun. Now I’m a really big Instagram fan. And I’ve had such a great time following your journey and watching you grow.
Matt:
Thank you so much.
Doug:
So, what made you decide to come to the BOSS Reseller Remix?
Matt:
So, a little story for this week is a luckier one. So, List Perfectly actually had a giveaway for a ticket. And I don’t think I really knew about the event like a few weeks before, but that’s me, you know, I just roll with the punches and you know, that’s my craziness, but then I won a free ticket to the event through List Perfectly. And let me just tell you, they told me, “Hey, we chose you as a finallist. Would you be able to make it to Vegas?” I said, “I will find a way to make it to Vegas.” You know, it’s just like a huge learning experience and I’ve never been able to meet other people that are interested in the same things, reseller wise in person. So, I was like, “I have to come.” So that’s kinda how I got here this week.
Liz:
Awesome. Did you have a lot of notice?
Matt:
Four days.
Doug:
Oh, that’s enough to plan a Vegas trip.
Liz:
What has the event been like for you?
Matt:
A cool learning experience. Honestly, it’s one of those things when you’ve never been to an event or a reseller event like this, you really don’t know what to expect and I’ve enjoyed all the speakers and the panels I’ve learned so much. I’ve been taking notes, you know, you gotta do that. But the main thing besides the speakers and the panels that I’ve gotten out, it’s just meeting friends and meeting, making connections and networking because I’ve always thought, you know, networking is a huge thing. That’s like one of the most important parts of building business. But yeah, just overall just meeting people and just having things in common with people that were strangers, but they support you.
Doug:
And no stranger danger, hopefully.
Matt:
I mean, hey, when you get on a plane to go to Vegas alone, you might be running into some. Yeah, exactly. Literally.
Doug:
Yeah. Like if I don’t return open this envelope…
Matt:
Literally I’d be like to my mom, “if I don’t return log into my eBay, I need you to ship for me.
Matt:
Ship my stuff. How long have you been selling?
Matt:
Probably on and off for about seven years, but it was a really on and off thing. I had a restaurant job. I had jobs here and there. So, like whenever I had the time, I would list something. But when COVID started maybe a year ago I started full-time and everything from there just blew up. Like a little thing about, like, if I say my story or so my story, I will say like the best way to describe how I got into it was probably like a year and a half ago. Like I couldn’t even pay my rent. I was kind of sleeping on my friend’s couches and stuff, which I’m not embarrassed to say now at the time I might’ve been, but that just shows you that, like when you focus in, you know, doing reselling stuff and just being consistent, I was able to get a two bedroom apartment and I was able to buy a car in six months, in the past six months. I didn’t think it could be like a full-time income or anything until I really like to put my heart and soul in, like drive into it and focused. And then ever since then, I was just like, you know, this is what I need to be doing.
Liz:
Where’d you get started selling. And what was the first item you sold?
Doug:
You said a toy. What toy?
Matt:
Oh my God. I think it was a Thomas, the Train toy, a little one, but it wasn’t, it wasn’t even the full set. It was like broken. So, I listed it damaged, like probably got like two, like 2.50, $2 and 50 cents back when mainly people did auctions and everything.
Doug:
So what platforms are you currently selling on?
Matt:
So, I am selling on eBay and Poshmark. When I started full-time it was mainly a Poshmark thing and eBay sometimes, but eBay, even for half the time, putting in quickly turned into my main source of income, which totally makes sense because worldwide and Poshmark is only, you know, U.S. But I really wanted to come to this event because I know a lot about Poshmark, and I really want to like to widen my knowledge about eBay. Cause it’s a huge platform, always something to learn. So those are the two I mainly sell on. I’ve sold like Mercari here and there and Grailed. Actual like main platforms those two, I would say. But yeah. So, my goal for this week is just to learn a lot more about eBay to grow my eBay business and you know, just thrive.
Doug:
Did you talk to eBay?
Matt:
Yeah, I met, I met the guy over there. I talked to them for a while, especially at the Meet and Greet. I think that’s how I kind of lost my voice. If anyone’s listening and wondering why I sound like this. That’s probably why. I network too hard.
Liz:
Anybody listening to this podcast, you need to know that this is day three in Vegas at a convention. So, all of our voices are a little blown from clapping and cheering and talking over crowds.
Matt:
I couldn’t go to the meetup last night. I had to get rest and rest of my voice for today. I wasn’t, I wasn’t about to miss out on some talking to people.
Liz:
Matt, you give advice to our community so much via, mostly Instagram. That’s where I follow you. You share tips, advice. And I just learn a lot from you. You share tips, advice and things like, “Hey, this is what I bought. Hey, this is what I sold.” And then all of the other information that you give when you’re listing. What’s one piece of selling advice that you can give our community today; it could even be something that you learned today or this week
Matt:
Selling advice, just because it’s cheap doesn’t mean you should buy it. You’re not a storage center. You’re a reseller. So, I think that’s what I’ve…and again, I’m not obviously the most educated person on this subject, but I really do think you always have something to learn from every person you meet. And yeah, I mean, I can give you the book of advice, but that will be our main one for now.
Doug:
So, you’ve been selling several years now, if you were starting today, what would you do differently? To not start with stolen goods, maybe?
Matt:
Maybe, maybe. At least it was in the family, so I didn’t get arrested. But if I started telling today what I would do differently, research. Research more and I discovered honestly, YouTube is such a great tool to watch other resellers. And when I just kind of dove in, I dove in blindly, like had bad buys and this and this and I didn’t really watch what sold videos and stuff like that. I would definitely say if I was starting today, I would just do more research before I made a move. And also, I feel like what I just thought of is what I usually say. For like an advice thing is that time is money. So, like again, just because something’s cheaper, just because something’s easy, doesn’t mean you should be spending your time on it.
Liz:
Time is money. And we’ve heard that a lot this week talking about saving time.
Doug:
Where you’re looking to expand to, with your selling and then socially with what you’re doing. Are you expanding your social media?
Matt:
Yeah, so I’ve always kind of been pretty good at like updating people online, posting social media stuff, but I think that’s kinda my strength. Of course, I definitely wanna expand my business. I want to go to a point where like I have so many items where I need an assistant, you know, but obviously I, what I’ve learned, especially from people this week is that don’t hire someone until you literally can’t do everything yourself. Cause you know, save your money. And I would say this next year my main goal is going to be growing my YouTube channel because I really do think there’s a lot of money in YouTube and brand deals and all that kind of good stuff. So yeah, just growing my business. The number of items listed in my social media, for sure.
Doug:
TikTok?
Matt:
Yeah. So, I have a TikTok. I think my TikTok is kingmattryan, my name, Matt Ryan King, but I have to change it to my store name. But what I have posted on TikTok about reselling is, pass comps and videos. And I voiceover telling what I got it for and what I flipped it for. So, I want to do more of those as well.
Liz:
That’s amazing. So, for anybody listening, don’t worry. You don’t have to take notes, go to Liz, perfectly.com/podcast. You’re going to see all of Matt’s links in the show notes. So, you can easily find his Instagram TikTok and selling platforms. Here’s your opportunity. What is one tool that you use to save time?
Matt:
It is a given because it’s the best. List Perfectly. I used to have a video podcast of my own, which I had with a reseller friend, but it, everybody has like time and life stuff happened. So, we stopped doing it, but List Perfectly, it was amazing and they kind of reached out to us as well, sponsoring that. So, it was amazing. And then I heard about it, and I was like, I would never do anything else for my business. Like would never stop using this you know, it saves time.
Liz:
Yeah. And you also promote List Perfectly. I’ve seen it on Instagram because that’s where I am because, well, that’s my demographic. You are a referral member because you believe in List Perfectly. So please share your referral code to our listeners.
Matt:
If everybody listening wants to sign up under the code, whysothrifty, you can get 30% off your first month and you will thank me after your first month, you will be a forever subscriber. It’s incredible. I would say my favorite thing because I have the higher plan would be bulk cross posting and being able to click more than one at a time. That right there is just worth paying however much more, you know, but yes, I can truly say every single day I use List Perfectly, and I start all of my listings on List Perfectly instead of any platform.
Doug:
So, tell us where you can be found–your stores, your social…
Matt:
Yes. So whysothrifty across the board Instagram actually is whysothriftystore. If you search whysothrifty or Matt whysothrifty on YouTube you can find me there and kingmattryan on TikTok and yeah, just search whysothrifty and I’ll come up.
Liz:
Do you have anything else to add?
Matt:
I would just say, thank you guys so much for having me. You make me feel famous, I love it. And it’s just been a blast getting to know you guys and everyone else here this week. And I can’t wait to make more memories and just growing, you know,
Liz:
I’m looking forward to watching you grow.
Matt:
Thank you.
Matt:
We’ll have you back. We want to see that YouTube channel growth, that TikTok growth. I just followed you on TikTok. Don’t look at my TikTok. I’ll follow you.
Matt:
Telling someone no, and then they have to look. I will definitely be following you. Well, thank you guys so much for having me. I appreciate it.
Liz:
Thank you so much, Matt, and have a great rest of the week.
Matt:
I definitely will.
Seller News and More
Liz:
It was finally great to meet Matt in person, as you know, I follow him on Instagram, all of his little shenanigans, I had never followed him on TikTok. Okay. So, after I got back from Vegas, I’m like, okay, let me follow him on TikTok. Um, Matt, I know you’re listening. Hidden talents…singing…Go to his TikTok and listen to his karaoke there for a minute. Um, Mr. Rap star. So, you know, he does really well at reselling all the things that he sells on top of that. If for some reason, the world were to crumble in the world of reselling, I’m pretty sure we could buy his album. There you go. So, there you go, go follow him on TikTok. It’s been a couple of months since he’s put anything out. So Matt, I’m challenging you, I’m telling you, we want to see more of you on TikTok.
Doug:
It’s true and he kind of did commit in the interview to do more TikToks. So, there we go. We’ll have to wait and see, we said we’d keep an eye on him.
Liz:
There you go. Thanks again, Matt.
Doug:
All right Liz. Seller, shoutouts news, et cetera. First, this is a, this is a big, cool announcement. This was cool to see this week. So Sarge and Red’s, vintage toys who were guests on episode 25, Sarge and Red, great story. They kind of went the different route. They were selling online and then opened a brick-and-mortar store. So, they’ve got a cool, like nostalgic toy game store where they live, and it opened this week. So, congratulations to them.
Liz:
Congratulations, John and Dee I’ve been watching and following you on Facebook and on YouTube. So, for those that want to see more on how you go from being an online seller to buying a place, totally gutting it, remodeling it and getting all the inventory to fill a vintage store, go back and listen to episode 25.
Doug:
And then you can also go to sargeandreds.com and we’ll include that link in the show notes, but that’s where you’ll see all their links. You can see their journey. They did a great series of stuff on YouTube about, building this store. It had been a dream for years and just literally years of sourcing, you know, buying out big stuff and just the whole story is super cool.
Liz:
So, congratulations again.
Doug:
And then Liz, this week, there was an article in Modern Retail, and it had a couple of our close friends, good friends of the show, Theresa Cox and Vikki Eagan. And they talked about selling online and, the title of the article was “A Bigger Audience Than Ever: Power Sellers are Making Six Figures Off of Resale Apps.”
Liz:
Yeah, that was such a great article. And a lot of people responded so well to it, especially sellers. When resellers get to read about other resellers that are in this class that Theresa and Vikki are in, power sellers, 20 plus years, still doing six figures a year in online sales. It’s really motivating. And a lot of people are like, you know, #goals.
Doug:
Exactly.
Liz:
So that’s amazing.
Doug:
And obviously friends of ours, friends of the show, the article also mentioned List Perfectly.
Liz:
Yes, it did. Cause they’re both avid List Perfectly users.
Doug:
Exactly. So, yeah, we’ll include the link. I don’t want to read it to you. You can go read it yourself, but here a little bit more about, you know, learn a little bit more about Theresa. What Theresa has been up to, what Vikki’s been up to a little bit about their journey. And again, the article talks about List Perfectly and how that helps power sellers help sellers across the board.
Liz:
I think that that’s it for like the news and seller shoutouts. Cause those kind of go hand in hand before we head into the news. I understand that you learned a new term this week and I want to learn about it too. Tell me about it.
Doug:
Yes. So, I’m excited because there’s a new e-commerce term that I learned this week, in an article from ZDnet who I follow, and I follow e-commerce stuff and trends. I think these trends kind of apply across the board and it’s kind of like the growth of different things, but there’s a new term. This is the first time I’ve seen it. Q-commerce, Liz. Q-commerce…
Liz:
What is q-commerce Doug?
Doug:
So qcommerce stands for quick commerce Liz, and it has to do with food delivery and e-groceries and their growth. And I, from personal experience since you know, COVID and lockdown stuff, we really started leaning into the, the e-grocery stuff and even food delivery. But right now, pretty much where we live, everything delivers. So, we get, I mean, we’re regular Costco shoppers. We get Costco stuff delivered. We get grocery stuff delivered. When we do order and a lot of times, we’ll get food delivered. This is really growing. And I don’t know how it is there, but we just get a ton of stuff delivered. Even if it’s something quick.
Liz:
What this makes me think of is kind of something that we’ve talked about in the past, Mercari, local delivery powered by Uber. So that is, I mean, they’re already leading the way into q-commerce in my brain. And it reminded me, I got onto to, I think it was yesterday or the day before to look at purchasing something. And I got a pop-up that local delivery is only $7.99 for a limited amount of time. So Mercari local delivery, if you are a seller selling larger items or really anything you can, depending on your area, which it’s opened up a lot, sell your stuff for local delivery, $7.99 gets your stuff delivered. Same or next day in town.
Doug:
I think that’s a trend you’re going to see, obviously, you know, you’ve got eBay local, you’ve got, you know, Facebook Marketplace started local. You’ve got Mercari. I saw an article this week talking about Amazon leaning into local delivery too. And it’s just, it’s just a blend of all this, all these different gig economies. And I really like the way Mercari’ s doing it.
Liz:
Yeah. So Mercari is definitely leading the way, but Doug, I’ve never heard of eBay or Facebook Local. I don’t know what that is.
Doug:
Facebook, I should probably clarify. On eBay, you can do like local pickup and then say Facebook marketplace. A lot of people still don’t realize you can ship stuff on Facebook Marketplace. And it’s like, seriously, if my mother-in-law is selling stuff on Facebook Marketplace for local pickup and stuff like that.
Liz:
But this is just to clarify, this is local delivery to where you can sit in your house and have Uber deliver it to your house. Same or next day, no meeting anybody, no scanning, QR codes. None of that. So, when I think of grocery delivery or this, I really think Mercari is leading the way when it comes to e-commerce outside of like local grocery chains or whatnot.
Doug:
That’s the way to do it. And the limitation is it has to be able to fit in a trunk.
Liz:
Yeah. So definitely check that out. But q-commerce. I learned a new term this week too. Thank you, Doug.
Doug:
Yeah. So that’s going well, we’ll have to see how that goes. I think it’s going to keep growing. I think it’s interesting. And you know, it’s like if somebody is delivering your groceries, it is what it is. Somebody delivering your food. Hopefully they don’t take a fry. They don’t take a sample. You don’t want to see a bite out of your sandwich.
Liz:
I’m going to have to stop Door Dashing. Now that you said that, come on!
Doug:
The other night, we ordered poke bowls, which is like a bowl of like sushi stuff. And we’ve got the Ring because everybody has the Rings now. And Door Dash said it was delivered and our Ring didn’t go off. So, we looked, and it was delivered in front of our neighbor’s. I had to sneak up and of course they have a Ring too. So, I walked over, I tried to duck under the Ring, which probably made it worse. And of course, I had a hoodie on which probably made it worse. So basically, I snagged the food. Hopefully they didn’t order the exact same thing we did, but I haven’t heard any of that yet.
Liz:
Have you met your new neighbors and is this something that you’re going to have to explain?
Doug:
Yeah, yeah. That dude we haven’t met, he kind of just comes and goes.
Liz:
Yeah, probably like me. I know my neighbors don’t know me. They’re like, oh my God. I think some lady lives there, but she never comes out of her basement. I saw her go shopping once there’s always packages getting delivered. So, something that’s been in the news a lot lately, Doug, I mean, we could have a whole episode on this. I think we’ve even said this before. Metaverse. Meta. Doug, break it down!
Doug:
I tease you about it. And we talk about it, and I send you, I’ve sent you my little Snoop Dougie avatar, which has the hair, the glasses, a leather jacket, and he’s in much better shape than I am. But that’s my little avatar that I imagine in the metaverse. So, from what I understand, the metaverse is going to be this whole virtual universe that actually has been hinted at for years in like science fiction and movies like Ready Player One or even stuff like Wall-E and hinted at in sci-fi. So basically, it’s going to be like a virtual emulation of our universe. Facebook and Microsoft are really leaning into this. And they’ve been doing a lot of like virtual reality stuff in gaming and in entertainment where you wear like the headsets and it’s, you know, immersive. Something you’ve also seen in video games, something you see in like Roblox or something you see in like this, maybe the Sims a little bit, it’s like a virtual environment that you’re interacting in.
Doug:
So, what they’re saying is, is like you could go to work and be at home, but you strap on your VR goggles and your little avatar goes and does your stuff. Facebook has really leaned into it because basically they’ve changed the name of the bigger company to Meta. Facebook the application will still be Facebook. Instagram will still be Instagram. WhatsApp will still be WhatsApp, but the umbrella company is now called Meta. So, they’re really going to start leaning into this virtual stuff. And obviously they’re going to want you to do it all via Facebook or their apps or whatever plans that they have. So that was a really interesting change, you know, that kind of came about quickly and now this Meta stuff is just everywhere. What does it mean for selling? I think at some point, yeah. I mean, that’s gotta become a part of it.
Liz:
So, for our listeners, they cannot see this. I’m totally lost. Okay. I don’t play video games. I’ve never seen any of those movies. Our listeners are going to grow with this metaverse with me. I consider myself an intelligent person. I am. But yeah, I feel stupid saying I don’t get it like, so are we just going to go play video games all day and sell fake things for fake money? Or so we’re going to have the evolution of this, of Liz understanding what this is about over the next couple of weeks. I’m sure Doug will school us on why this is important.
Doug:
I think it’s interesting. Think of it maybe more in terms of things getting more digital.
Liz:
But hold on a second here, Dude. I’m Gen X too.
Doug:
I’m a Gen X millennial though Liz.
Liz:
No, you’re not.
Doug:
I was Basically told that yesterday by millennials,
Liz:
No, you’re not (laughing).
Doug:
Alright, the shows done.
Liz:
Okay. My son is, well, no.
Doug:
It’s a term! Genexial.
Liz:
Okay. But we’re not. In our brain we’re young, we’re connected, but we are nowhere near a millennial.
Doug:
I’m not young. Fifty is the new, 25 Liz.
Liz:
Okay. So, then I’m Gen Z, which pretty much is a Gen X-er. When we look at it, I have both a millennial and gen-zer that I have raised. So, kind of cover it. My husband kinda hits the cuff on that.
Doug:
And when does it reset? Do we go back to Gen A?
Liz:
I don’t even, you know what, I really hate those terms when they’re used against each other, like we’ll gen Xers and millennials says, and gen Z says, because I think at the end of the day, we’re just, it’s just, we’re just products of our environment and our times. I think my kids are probably all boomers because they’re old souls. But at the end of the day, I was never interested in any of that stuff. I’ve never been interested in video games. Although my youngest is a gamer still don’t understand it. My kids got into the whole Pokemon cards and Digimon and I never understood any of that. I think I fell asleep during Wall-E about 17 times. And I’ve never watched it all the way through and all of those type of movies. I know half of our listeners are probably going to like punch me through their speaker, but it’s just not my style of movie. It’s I’m not a sci-fi person.
Doug:
Well maybe you could see Ready Player One, maybe that would help out. But Liz will also watch a movie and be like, not remember that she saw movie or watch a TV show and not realize that she’s seen the show.
Liz:
I’ve watched an entire movie before. I think you mentioned something to me and you’re like, “hey, have you seen that?” I’m like, “oh my gosh, that sounds interesting. I’ll tell John that we need to watch it.” And I went and told my husband was like, “hey, Doug mentioned, we should watch this.” And he’s like, “Liz, we’ve already seen it.” I was like, “really? It doesn’t even sound familiar to me.” I have a memory problem. I don’t know.
Doug:
So do this for me this weekend, ask your sons about Meta, what they think and then ask them what’s Ready Player One and just see what they say. Don’t prompt them with anything, just see what they say. And then you can report back to me.
Liz:
I will just make an assignment for myself and maybe I’ll just watch that. So, I will be prepared to talk about Meta in your next. It talks about that next week.
Doug:
I think you’ll like it.
Outro
Liz:
So, Doug, I have my assignment for this week. I have my assignment for this week. And I am so glad we got to talk to Matt this week. This was a great episode.
Doug:
Yeah. It was a great episode. And you can give me some lady movie to watch or something like Withering Heights or Little Women.
Speaker 2:
I don’t know what that is. Um Dexter. And You, and what’s next on my playlist. I want to start Yellowstone. I know don’t kill me. I’m behind. I haven’t started it yet, but anyways, I’m babbling again. The Great, oh, season two of The Great is coming out.
Doug:
All right. Very exciting.
Liz:
You’d like that one.
Doug:
I actually saw part of that. A friend recommended it to me.
Liz:
It’s hilarious. And I’m excited for season two.
